What do your employees cost you apart from their wages?

A lot! And these costs are rising. And the cost driver is disease , chronic disease to be specific  such as heart ,diabetes, back problems, arthritis, depression and stress. And one last bit of bad news is that these chronic diseases are showing no signs of getting better. In fact they are getting worse.

But that’s where the bad news end  and  the good news start.

The good news is that you can put a stop or at least slow down the increase in your costs. How? Attack the problem at its root.

And the root is risk factors. We know which ones they are.  And the best part is that they can be reversed  or decreased for those employees  who have them  or prevented from happening for those who don’t have them yet. I say “yet” because we know that if no action is taken, more employees will  shift to the” have”  compared to the “have not” group.

The risk factors?  Obesity, inactivity, high stress, smoking, high blood sugar,  high cholesterol. The usual suspects!  And  the good news is  that these are “modifiable” , so they can be modified , changed or eliminated  with the right tools.
